At base, you have 100 silver pieces to spend on your equipment as well as an outfit worth no more than 5sp. In addition, you may receive some free equipment depending on skills and talents that you possess, as well as your background traits and traditions. If you start with the Trapfinder talent, you start with a set of thieves’ tools for free. If you are Trained in a Craft or Harvest skill, you have basic tools for those skills. Finally, if you start the game with a Martial Tradition, you start with one Fine quality weapon for free.
Starting Packages
Found within this chapter are Starting Packages that can be purchased for a quick introduction to play, each package has a core theme that can be taken into account for ease of access, all of these starting packages are valued within the base 100sp starting wealth range that your character begins the game with, allowing you to select one of these starting packages for quick access to the game without worrying about equipment.
When purchasing a starting package, you can remove or add items to the package at the full market value of the given item; however, once you start play, any items that you wish to purchase or sell follow the standard market value for the given area or region, as well as any modifiers that the individual merchant may apply to them.
Wealth and Money
Coins
Traditionally, coins within Unbound weigh 0.02 lb. per individual coin, or 50 coins to the pound; however, certain settings may alter these values, for example, within the World of Sylva coins weigh 0.2 lb. per individual coin or 5 coins to the pound. Check with your GM when determining your coins weight.
Coins within Unbound hold five different core values; though the individual denominations may vary, each coin are traditionally separated into five different categories, and they are as follows: Copper Piece (cp), Silver Piece (sp), Gold Piece (gp), Platinum Piece (pp), and Mithral Piece (mp).
Though these coins may not be made from this metal type, they are nonetheless ordered and given in this way throughout this book for ease. Additionally, Unbound is a Silver-based economy, thus, most items found within the markets of Unbound are based off of the silver piece, rather than the traditional gold piece found within most other fantasy RPGs.

Availability
Simply being wealthy does not guarantee that you can find the equipment that you are looking for. Villages and similarly small settlements are unlikely to have rare and extravagant luxuries, or even the more common of magical items found within the bigger cities. More-so, higher quality goods made by skilled and able crafters tend to be found within the big cities where such crafters congregate.
To reflect the variations of availability, each item is given a rarity grade from Abundant to Unique. These notations are guidelines on availability and should be used as a baseline when attempting to purchase items in a given local. At the end of the day, the GM is the final arbiter for whether or not a given item can be found within a location.
Table 6-2: Availability
| Availability | D100 Modifier |
| Abundant | +60 |
| Plentiful | +40 |
| Common | +20 |
| Average | 0 |
| Uncommon | -20 |
| Scarce | -40 |
| Rare | -60 |
| Very Rare | -80 |
| Legendary | -100 |
| Unique | -120 |
A goods availability is further enhanced by the given population centers size. When determining if an individual item can be found within the given location. Combine its rarity modifier to the Availability by Population modifier given under the table below to determine the number needed to roll equal to or lower than on a d100.
