Over the course of a game, you will gain access to various numerical bonuses to stats, Attributes, skills, and the like. These bonuses may be from many different sources and typically stack with each other, however bonuses from the same source do not stack unless otherwise noted. Instead, you take the higher of the two bonuses from the same source. The following list are common sources of bonuses that you may gain over the course of the game but are not necessarily all that are available.
Alchemical Bonuses
Alchemical bonuses are from alchemical items or alchemical talents and in general are usually temporary or require a consumable item to be used.
Aligned Bonuses
Aligned bonuses refer to bonuses which can be granted from a variety of abilities or items that are usually connected to alignments in some way.
Armor Bonuses
Armor refers to the bonus to AC and other statistics such as skills from a specific armor type.
Circumstance Bonuses
Circumstance bonuses refer to bonuses granted when attempting an action while in a beneficial situation. For example, using a crowbar when attempting to open a wooden crate gives a Circumstance bonus to that check. Many of these bonuses are decided by the GM during game, and may also be penalties such as making a perception check while trying to see through fog.
Competence Bonuses
Competence bonuses are usually gained from abilities that attempt to assist on a task, or originate from other abilities such as the bardic song, inspire competence.
Deflection Bonuses
Deflection commonly refers to Deflection bonuses to AC from certain magical items or abilities that are not considered purely magic bonuses.
Divine Bonuses
Divine bonuses refer to bonuses which can be granted from a variety of abilities or items that are usually connected to deities in some way.
Dodge Bonuses
Dodge refers to the Dodge bonus to AC and some skills such as Acrobatics from talents such as the Dodge or Mobility talents though it is possible to get Dodge from other sources. These bonuses typically stack.
Inherent/Lineage Bonuses
Inherent or Lineage bonuses refer to anything you gain from Lineage or background and stack with all other benefits freely and when noted, each other.
Insight Bonuses
Insight refers to the bonus gained from study, or somewhat rare magical items, and are usually temporary bonuses unless otherwise noted. For example, if attempting a knowledge check and you go research the information in a library you may receive an Insight bonus to that check.
Luck Bonuses
Luck bonuses are commonly bonuses to skill checks from the luck point, or from items that grant a bonus such as a lucky coin.
Magic Bonuses
Magic bonuses refer to any numerical bonuses or penalties from spells or other spell like abilities in addition to most magic item benefits. Unless otherwise noted Magic bonuses do not stack with each other.
Morale Bonuses
Morale bonuses are any bonus granted by an ability or RP situation that would grant a numerical bonus or penalty.
Natural Bonuses
Natural Armor bonuses are a bonus to AC and DR that stack with other Armor Bonuses. For example, spells that grant a Natural Armor bonus.
Outsider Bonuses
Outsider bonuses refer to bonuses which can be granted from a variety of abilities or items that are usually connected to outsiders in some way.
Quality Bonuses
Quality bonuses refer to the benefits gained from the different tiers of masterwork on items and equipment.
Shield
Shield bonuses refer to bonuses to AC and certain other specific skills and defenses provided by shield or spells that grant a temporary magic shield.
Size
Size bonuses refer to a variety of benefits and penalties based on your Size Category.
Skill Rank Bonuses
Skill Rank refers to the bonus to a skill from taking a rank in that skill, for example, Apprentice would provide a +2 Skill Rank bonus.
Tactical Bonuses
Tactical bonuses refer to any bonus granted to a skill check, typically attack rolls, from a beneficial tactical position such as Flanking or High Ground. Different tactical bonuses do stack.
Tool Bonuses
Tool bonuses refer to the base bonus granted by using a tool or workshop when attempting a skill check.
Tradition Bonuses
Tradition bonuses refer to any benefits granted by Martial or Magical traditions.
Trait Bonuses
Trait bonuses refer to the bonuses provided by the traits and flaws you received from character creation.
