- Prerequisite: Apprentice Manipulate Device
You gain the ability to spontaneously set up traps in combat that you have prepared ahead of time. At the start of each day, you prepare various bits and pieces of traps allowing you to spontaneously put together traps on the fly. This allows you to make a number of traps per Long Rest equal to your Intellect modifier plus half of your Rank Bonus in Manipulate Device. When you make these traps, you may choose to make any type of trap that you have access to with any modifiers that you have access to from various Trapper talents.
As a Basic Action you may set up a trap in any location within your natural Reach. If this trap extends into an area past your natural Reach, you may do so without moving as long as the starting point is within your natural Reach. If hostile creatures are able to see you when you set up the trap, they are aware of the traps existence and may act appropriately even if they do not know what the trap will do.
The DC to spot, disable, identify, and resist any save effects of a trap from this ability is equal to 10 + your Rank Bonus in Manipulate Device + your Intellect modifier. Additionally, any traps that make attack rolls use your total bonus in Manipulate Device as their bonus to attack and the Critical Rating of these traps is equal to half of your Rank Bonus in Manipulate Device.
These traps last for a number of minutes once placed equal to your Intellect modifier at base. Each trap only has a single effect but may also have a form modifier and an augmentation applied to it. The effects of these traps are either instantaneous or last until the target breaks free or disables the trap. This is typically determined by damaging effects being instantaneous but physical condition effects such as a tripwire or a pit being permanent until removed. Traps that can be triggered in an AoE target all creatures within that area when triggered. If multiple creatures act on the same Initiative, such as a group of hostile creatures of the same type, and they all would move into or through a traps area they all are affected as if they set off the trap, not just the first one that moved.
When the trapper talent is purchased, you choose a number of Simple Traps equal to half of your Intellect modifier that you gain for free.
